Foundations workbook
Course identifier: OSERP-FND-001 · Prerequisite: access to an authorized demonstration company · Assessment: self-study practical exercises.
Lesson FND-01: establish context
Objective: identify the company and distinguish master records, transactions, and reports.
Read Welcome to OSERP. Find the active company and an existing item. Open a report and identify its date range. Record the screen names and filters, without including private customer or employee data.
Completion evidence: explain why a record in one company should not be assumed to exist in another. Name one master record, one transaction, and one report.
Lesson FND-02: configure a demonstration company
Objective: explain the six setup steps and the consequence of base currency.
Read Company Setup. Prepare a fictional identity, location, base currency, fiscal-year start, and module choices. If authorized to create demonstration companies, complete setup and inspect the saved profile. Otherwise prepare the configuration worksheet without creating anything.
Completion evidence: record the chosen currency and year start, explain which values were suggested, and identify what must be configured before posting. Explain why changing base currency after posting is restricted.
Lesson FND-03: create a useful item
Objective: distinguish identity, quantity interpretation, pricing, and stock behavior.
Read Item Master. Create a fictional stock item with a clear name and base unit. Review its Stock Tracked value and pricing basis. Save, reopen, and compare the values. Add a purchase-unit conversion only when its meaning is understood.
Completion evidence: explain why saving the item does not create stock. Calculate the base units represented by a case of twelve. Explain the difference between standard cost and current warehouse value.
Lesson FND-04: trace a transaction
Objective: distinguish saving, approving, fulfilling, posting, and paying.
Read Your First Sale. Follow the demonstration path approved for your company. Keep the document or receipt reference and inspect the supported stock/accounting outcome.
Completion evidence: a small worksheet with action, status, reference, expected result, actual result, and discrepancy. If the environment cannot complete the transaction, record the blocker rather than marking it complete.
Lesson FND-05: investigate an exception
Objective: describe a problem precisely and choose a safe next step.
Read Troubleshooting. Consider a journal rejected for a date outside the calendar, a sale showing an unexpected price, or a stock balance disagreeing with lots. Identify the screen, context, evidence, and person who can resolve it.
Completion evidence: explain why repeating a write after a timeout can be unsafe and what to check first.
