Help text and messages
The following wording is embedded in this screen. It describes interface guidance, rather than independently verified system guarantees.
- No projects yet. Click + New Project.
- Pick a user, or name someone who has no login — a site agent or subcontractor lead.
- What this project files, named the way this kind of work names it. Some of these are records; the ones marked for approval are waiting on somebody.
- A project collects cost while the work happens. Settlement moves it to where it finally belongs — a capital job onto the balance sheet, a billable job to cost of sales. What moves is whatever is still sitting on the account, so a second run in the same period has nothing to do.
- Leave this alone and the project type decides. Set it to split one task across more than one receiver — the shares must add to 100%.
- Cost to cost reads the spend already on the job and divides it by your forecast of the total — so the only figure you type is the forecast. Raise the forecast and progress falls, which is the point.
- Revenue is earned by progress, not by invoicing. This posts the difference between what progress says you have earned and what is already credited to revenue on this job — so invoices raised in the meantime are not counted twice.
- Available is budget minus what is spent minus what is already ordered. A budget set on a phase controls everything under it — the tightest one binds.
- Original budget, or why it is being revised
- Each entry is a movement, not a replacement — the original and every later revision add up, so the trail survives.
- Only a released project accepts cost. A closed one accepts nothing — which is what stops a finished job absorbing next year’s spend.
- Only a task at the bottom of a branch collects cost. Anything with children below it becomes a summary automatically — cost on a summary would be counted twice when the project rolls up.
